What is physical culture? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

Starting from the etymology of each word, we can say that the word culture comes from the Latin “cultūra” and the physical word from the Latin ”physĭca” and this from the Greek “τὰ φυσικά”. Physical culture is understood as the set of practices, habits, experiences and achievements that are obtained from recreation and from the application of fundamentals, principles, methodologies oriented to the training and exercise of the human being, and what is related in physical matter guided to education, health, physical fitness, competition and leisure. In other words, it is that group of knowledge and practices about sports and gymnastics, focused or oriented on the development of bodily faculties.

Physical culture is related not only to the practice of physical activities, but also to everything we do in order to take good and better care of our body; and that they are also activities that we do for pleasure and not for obligation, therefore these activities are usually called recreational activities, since many times we do not adopt them as a routine. Physical exercises, sports and gymnastics complement a healthy, vitally active life and a healthy and balanced diet; although it should be noted that the mind also plays a fundamental role in achieving an excellent degree of well-being. And for this we must avoid stressful situations, spend more time with friends, family or loved ones, to contribute to our well-being.

Consequently we can say that physical culture is not designated as a science but as a discipline, this is because it is not in charge of a specific object study, but rather that it takes certain elements from different sciences and, based on this, it forms its own theoretical framework.
