The indexing is the process of explaining or represent the thematic content of an information resource to develop an index which is to obtain representative concepts of the contents of a document which may be used materials, keywords or descriptors. In addition, it is the action and effect of indexing the preparation that is the preparation and realization of the index that is used as a search tool and access to the content of resources in recovery systems.
The indexing is not limited to detect, capture, discover, perceive the words present in the document, besides its translation and interpretation in order to pass the natural language documentary language.
This area is the organization of knowledge in libraries that achieves both the author's index , title, description of the document and all the topics covered in the document, it is also the act of examining the content of a restricted information and that carries keywords of a systematic order, which is the one that follows or conforms to a system of set ordered with the alphabetical index for the contents of books arranged thematically or the alphabetical index to a catalog arranged systematically.
There are three types of indexing which are automatic, free and document indexing.
The automatic indexing, are those obtained keywords of a summary title or text that are used to represent a content that is used to represent without the need of being subjected to any terminological control as articles, conjunctions which is the union of elements forming a set logical, coherent, pronouns, prepositions, etc.
The free indexing, which is used in the representation of subjects or in terms of a controlled vocabulary, but uses terms of the resource itself extruded or mind of the indexer.
The documentary indexing is the methodological intellectual process of describing and get him or abstracts few words especially expressive with excellent information that allows sorting and retrieval of each article or published document.
