Windows Phone is a mobile operating system developed by Microsoft for smartphones and other mobile devices. It was launched on the market on October 21, 2010 in Europe and on November 8 in the United States, in order to supplant the well-known Windows Mobile.
Microsoft decided to make a complete change in this new operating system with respect to the other, not only was the name changed, but it was developed from scratch, presenting a completely new interface, better behavior and greater control over the hardware platforms that run it., all with the purpose of being competitive again in the mobile world.
The first generation of Windows Phone is Windows Phone 7 Series, also known as Windows Phone 7, this number was taken because its predecessor in the market was Windows Mobile 6.5. It should be noted that Windows Phone is incompatible with previous Windows Mobile, users will not be able to update Windows on their phone and therefore will have to buy a new one with the recent operating system.
With this platform, Microsoft comes as a new mobility proposal designed to integrate and maximize experiences through the web, the PC and the telephone, through applications and services. A set of minimum hardware requirements have been established for companies that make phones to use Windows Phone 7 on their computers.
All this offers certain advantages to application developers as it reduces the fragmentation of the platform by not having an infinite variety of sizes, shapes and hardware resources. Windows Phone is available on the computers of its main commercial partners, such as HTC, HP, LG, Toshiba, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, among others.
For the first time, Microsoft brings an Xbox Live service and the Zune experience (entertainment platform) to the mobile phone. Also to offer greater integration with Windows Live and great emphasis on using the phone with the fingers (touch), and it is also to be a focus on social networks with People Hub, an area where all our contacts are located and that can be sync with Facebook.
The important thing about this new mobile operating system is that due to its characteristics and functions, it has received good reviews from the specialized press; and mobile models equipped with Windows Phone are expected to grow more and more in the market.
