The term communication comes from the Latin "communicare" which means "to make another share in what one has." It is the action of communicating or communicating, it is understood as the process by which information is transmitted and received. Every human and animal has the ability to communicate with others. But, for a process to take place, the presence of six elements is essential: that there is an issuer; that is, someone who transmits the information; a receiver, someone to whom the information is directed and who receives it; and a channel, which can be oral or written.
What is communication
Table of Contents
It is a mode of information exchange between a sender and a receiver, in which the first transmits the message and the second interprets and produces a response, if necessary. As far as human beings are concerned, this is their own psychic activity, derived from thought, language and the development of psychosocial capacities in relationships.
As a social value, it is the basis of personal and group self-affirmation, since through it we exchange opinions and feelings with other people. Learning to communicate is essential for the development of our personality. Therefore, above all, a conversation must be surrounded by sincerity and honesty.
Through the word, we communicate our thoughts and feelings and establish personal relationships with our family, friends, at school, at work, and in the community. Therefore, every day we must do more to achieve perfection in the skills of transmitting a message or information: speaking, listening, writing and reading.
On the other hand, this concept is considered to be the brief writing in which something important is informed or notified; for example, the president has issued an official statement.
Currently a new means of communication is that of youtubers, these are people who are dedicated to posting on social networks any type of content of interest to their followers.
One of the most famous in Mexico is "Luisito Comunica", a young man whose real name is Luis Arturo Villar Sudek, 27 years old, student of Communication Sciences at the Benemérita University of Puebla, Mexico. This young man began in 2007 to upload tutorial videos on YouTube channels, but it was in 2012 that he created his own channel, becoming one of the most famous platforms. It currently has almost 21 million subscribers and around 540 videos and revenues that exceed 3 million pesos per month.
Communication Process
By this process, the set of activities associated with a data exchange is known. As mentioned above, within the framework of this activity there are codes shared between the sender and the receiver, that is, combinations of rules that allow this process to take place, and that transmit the message through channels, these can be physical or through a digital medium. The obstacles that arise in the communication process are called noise.
Comunication elements
As already mentioned, the definition of communication is basically the procedure by which an individual establishes contact with others, allowing them to spread information. Therefore, there are a series of elements that make this process possible:
- Issuer It is in charge of initiating the action of communicating and issuing certain information. He decides how to carry out the action.
- Receiver It is who receives the message or information, adjusting and interpreting it according to the linguistic signs. After its interpretation, it is able to issue a response to the issuer.
- Message Also known as the matter of the process, it is the content of either a letter, an email, a spoken or recorded message, among others.
- Communication Channel It is the medium through which the information or message is transmitted, this can be natural as is the air, or artificial as there are many, including letters, CDs, etc.
- Code It is a fundamental element in communication, they are signs of the language, combined by the sender depending on the message they want to transmit.
- Context It is the medium or environment that surrounds the sender and receiver at the time of communication.
