The Institutional Educational Project has a fundamental tool called, "The institutional curricular project" (PCI), as a proposal for education, created especially for students and agreed by all the actors involved. They must feel responsible part, to achieve the established objectives. This PCI must be subject to changes and discussions that guarantee democratic intervention, in the elaboration of the contents to be taught and the way forward according to the ideology of the institution.
The pedagogical autonomy of schools requires that each of them, while respecting the general guidelines imposed by the State on the content of education, can impose its own characteristics that are appropriate to the characteristics of its enrollment.
The Institutional Curriculum Project is conceived as "the set of decisions articulated and shared by the team of teachers of an educational center, tending to give more coherence to their performance", specifying the jurisdictional curricular design in global didactic intervention proposals, appropriate to their specific context. The Institutional Curriculum Project consists of systematically generating and contrasting, in practice, a set of educational conceptions, intentions and strategies.
The institutional curricular project is an instrument that helps to reflect on educational practice. It constitutes the privileged space to plan an educational response adjusted to diversity and is a significant proposal for the improvement of educational quality.
All institutional curricular project must have the following characteristics:
- The contents must be the same in all schools, because otherwise, a student could never change schools.
- Traditional planning is prepared annually by the management team, drawing the plan in a logical, closed and static way.
The process for the elaboration of the institutional curricular project must include the following:
- Give priority to pedagogical problems.
- Design a Poster of Values and Attitudes.
Formulate the Strategic Objectives of the Institutional Curriculum Project.
- Formulate a study plan.
- Characterization and prioritization of educational demand, that is, determining learning needs and cross-cutting issues.
- Development of diversified curricular designs by areas and degrees.
- Formulate the Methodological, Evaluation and Tutoring Guidelines.
